Hypnosis has often carried a sense of suspense and thrill with it. Though it is a perfectly natural experience, many people feel it is related to something of the supernatural. However, a hypnotherapist is not a magician and has no special power. And in short, hypnosis is possible with nearly every human being… if he or she is willing.
Hypnotism is a scientific way to help the person to change his attitude towards a specific problem. This change happens at the subconscious mind. The success of hypnotherapist depends on awakening of subconscious mind of his patient. The hypnotherapist may use different techniques of hypnotism for every individual. Consider these points about hypnosis and hypnotism:
1) Hypnosis is a status of our mind and body which is similar to sleep. In this state our total concentration on our mind is essential. A person who is hypnotized is fully aware of what he is doing.
2) The hypnotherapist uses different techniques to induce the patient. The success of hypnotism lies in the perfect application of hypnotism technique. Every person’s capacity to get hypnotized is different. Some people are hypnotized by simple way of eye concentration or some may need advanced method like confusion of mind.
3) Hypnotism techniques are often about using the object for eye concentration like a fan, lamp or any other object on which a person is asked to concentrate. And number counting is also used with this. Once the person gets involved in a relaxed situation, he will follow the instructions given by the hypnotherapist.
4) A self hypnosis technique is to use music or any words or songs repeatedly to concentrate on the mind. Self hypnosis can be done with practice. You can do it when you feel stressed. It can be done without hypnotherapist.
5) A progressive relaxation technique of hypnotism is commonly used. The hypnotherapist gives the instruction to the patient to help him to relax. Further he asks him to concentrate on breathing and off other parts of body and then the relaxation status is deeper than it was before. Then the hypnotherapist has to continue until the state of hypnosis is achieved.
6) People know about hypnotism from the stage of hypnotism. This technique of hypnotism is very different from medical use of this therapy. The hypnotherapist has to use the dominating approach. The audience is watching the therapist and they are generally impressed hence the direct induction technique has to be used. The impact should be fast and the crowd should be entertained with the immediate result. The subject gets hypnotized in a few seconds via this direct induction technique.
7) The technique of confusion is used for the person who is not hypnotized easily. Here the therapist has to use the different words or he has to make the subject think about the different things at one time and get confused. When such a person is confused, she or he is tempted to listen to the instructions given by hypnotherapist. Hence once the subject is confused, therapist uses the words like relax, breathe slowly, and close your eyes. This helps to relax. Then therapist follows the progressive relaxation technique. The subject will achieve the state of hypnosis.
The methods of handshake induction techniques are rarely used. In this, the hypnotherapist has to use a little different techniques if the subject is child.
In conclusion, a hypnotherapist has to talk with the subject to judge his or her capacity to become hypnotized. So he has to have 2-3 sessions for getting information about the subject. Once he decides the technique of hypnotism, he should give information to this subject. And prepare him for the hypnotism.
